BRECKENRIDGE — Approximately 40 people were evacuated by rope from the Peak 8 SuperConnect at Breckenridge Ski Resort yesterday after a mechanical error stalled the lift with skiers and snowboarders on board. The mechanical difficulties were reported at around 1:30 p.m. and the rope evacuation was completed at 4:15 p.m.
"At some point you have to make that decision when people are sitting there, if we can fix it and how long is it going to take versus evacuating folks," Breckenridge Ski Resort spokeswoman Kristen Petitt Stewart said.
There were no injuries, she said, and the lift will be fully operational and back open to the public tomorrow.
