Technip Saw Strong Increase in Orders in 2012

French oilfield services firm Technip announced Thursday a strong increase in its order intake during 2012 as its revenue increased by more than 20 percent.

Technip said that its order intake increased from $10.6 billion to $15.5 billion during 2012, while its order backlog increased by 36.8 percent to $19 billion. The firm's revenue for 2012 amounted to $10.9 billion, compared with $9.1 billion in 2011, while its net income improved 6.4 percent to $718 million.

Technip was awarded by Sabah Shell Petroleum Company Ltd an important subsea pipelines contract for the Malikai deepwater project, located offshore Sabah, at a water depth of approximately 2,133 feet (650 meters).

The contract includes transportation, installation and pre-commissioning of a 8" 31-mile (50-kilometer) gas pipeline and a 10" 34-mile (55-kilometer) liquid pipeline including steel catenary risers. The pipelines stretch from the Malikai tension leg platform site to the Kebabangan platform.

Technip's operating centers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Singapore will execute the contract, which is scheduled to be completed by the second semester of 2015. Offshore installation will be carried out by Technip's flagship S-Lay vessel, the G1201.

French oilfield services firm Technip announced Monday that it named its latest vessel in Vigo, Spain.

The Deep Orient, a new-build medium construction vessel, will be dedicated to subsea construction and flexible pipe-laying projects.

Technip said the vessel was completed within a tight time frame thanks to strong cooperation between its Marine New Builds Team in Aberdeen, Scotland and the firm's Metalships & Docks shipyard in Vigo.

The Deep Orient is equipped with a 250-metric ton main crane, dynamic positioning (DP2) station-keeping capability, two work-class remotely operated vehicles and a large deck area for ample storage of equipment while working on remotely located projects. The vessel can accommodate 120 people and complies with the latest marine environmental standards.

The vessel is to be mobilized at Technip's facility in Le Trait, France, before undertaking its first projects in Norway.

Technip Wins TLP Malikai Deepwater Contract

Sabah Shell Petroleum has awarded Technip and Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering a contract for the engineering, procurement and construction of a tension leg platform (TLP) for the TLP Malikai Deepwater Project.

Technip said Friday that the TLP will be designed as a fully-manned platform that will be installed some 70 miles offshore Sabah, Malaysia, in a water depth of approximately 1,600 feet. It will weight approximately 26,000 tons – including a topside, which will have facilities to process 60,000 barrels of oil and 50 million cubic feet of gas per day.

Technip will lead the joint venture, with engineering and procurement to be carried out at its operating center in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Hull and moorings engineering will be done at KL by Technip MHB Hull Engineering.

Meanwhile, the Malikai TLP will be constructed and commissioned at MMHE's fabrication yard at Pasir Gudany in Johor, Malaysia.

The tendons will be fabricated in the US Gulf of Mexico before being transported to Malaysia.
